What is Pathways Saturday School?
Pathways Saturday School is a programme that launched in February 2024 aimed at 11-16 year olds with an interest in Music, Dance and Drama. The programme has received funding to continue this academic year due to the success of the pilot!
Each participant will get to creatively explore all aspects of the performing and creative arts. Each Music, Dance and Drama session will be led by an experienced member of staff or graduate here at the University of Chester. We allow you to experience performing arts in a fun, supportive and inclusive environment whilst encouraging and celebrating participants individuality.
Do I need to have experience to join?
Absolutely no experience necessary! This space is open to all abilities at different levels of experience. We welcome all and particularly encourage those who have never tried performing and creative arts before to come and do so in a fun, open and supportive way.
How do I know if it’s for me?
We have taster workshops happening in the run up to launching the 10-week programme. Come along and get a sense of what the sessions will include and meet the leaders you will be working with. Please sign up via our signup sheet on our website to secure your place.
What do the sessions entail?
Our sessions have the flexibility and scope to offer participants the chance to focus on their own areas of interest as well as giving them the chance to try every discipline. We encourage them to engage in all areas of the Saturday School, however, we understand that interests may be specific to one or two areas. Please do not be deterred by this, all of the sessions are very open and leave lots of space for creativity.
What is our aim?
Our aim is to boost young people’s self-confidence, communication and social skills, provide specialist training and most of all celebrate CREATIVITY. We strongly believe that creating a safe, supportive and enjoyable environment for young people to be themselves is crucial in fulfilling these aims.
